AFRIFF Launches Africa Film Content Market in Lagos This November

AFRIFF is launching the inaugural Africa Film Content Market to connect African filmmakers with global investors, distributors.

The African International Film Festival (AFRIFF) is set to make history with the launch of its inaugural Africa Film Content Market (AFCM) in Lagos, scheduled for November 3–6, 2025. This new initiative promises to be a game-changer for African filmmakers and content creators seeking global exposure.

The AFCM was officially announced at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025, when AFRIFF founder Chioma Ude signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nigeria’s Federal Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy. The announcement signaled AFRIFF’s commitment to creating a professional marketplace for African cinema on an international scale.

The AFCM is designed to address a long-standing need: a dedicated platform in Africa where film content can be bought, sold, and financed. It aims to give Nigerian and African filmmakers and producers direct access to investors, distributors, and buyers from around the world, bridging the gap between local talent and international opportunities.

The market will run concurrently with the 14th edition of AFRIFF, which takes place from November 2–8, 2025, providing a comprehensive festival experience. The initiative is being led by Dennis Ruh, former director of the European Film Market (EFM), whose expertise is expected to bring a global standard to the event.

With the Africa Film Content Market, AFRIFF is not just celebrating African cinema; it is creating a dynamic marketplace that could redefine the continent’s film industry, making Lagos a hub for global film business this November.
