Kunle Afolayan made a strong impression at the 29th edition of FESPACO, reinforcing his dedication to African cinema through his KAP Group. The festival, which celebrates African storytelling and fosters collaboration, saw Kunle host a special “KAP Day at FESPACO.” A major highlight was his masterclass, “Business of Cinema: Balancing Creative with Commercial Visibility,” where he discussed funding opportunities for filmmakers.
His KAP Academy also gained recognition for training aspiring creatives in both technical and business skills, solidifying his role in industry development. Additionally, the screening of Ija Ominira, a 1978 film by his late father, Adeyemi Afolayan (Ade Love), was a nostalgic moment, earning praise for Kunle’s efforts in preserving his father’s legacy.
Kunle further engaged audiences with a private screening of his upcoming film, RECALL, set for release on April 4, 2025, which received enthusiastic feedback. He also hosted a cocktail evening featuring Nigerian music and cuisine, fostering cultural exchange among filmmakers.
As the festival concluded, he encouraged African filmmakers to maintain a steady creative output, advocating for at least one film annually instead of long gaps between projects. His call for consistency resonated with industry peers, reinforcing the importance of continuous storytelling to elevate African cinema on the global stage.
