The Red Sea Film Foundation has officially opened registrations for the sixth edition of its Lodge training program, a creative residency designed to support aspiring filmmakers from Saudi Arabia, the Arab region, Asia, and Africa.
Sponsored by Film AlUla and in partnership with the Torino Film Lab, this annual initiative offers intensive training sessions aimed at nurturing talent and enhancing filmmaking skills.
Applications from Saudi filmmakers will be accepted until November 7, 2024, while submissions for projects from Arab, African, and Asian filmmakers will remain open until December 15.
The Lodge offers participants a thorough understanding of the cinematic process, guiding them from concept development to the creation of full feature scripts under the mentorship of industry experts.
This year, the program will include five workshops, starting with one tailored specifically for Saudi participants, followed by sessions for all attendees.
Throughout the residency, filmmakers will engage in hands-on workshops focusing on essential industry skills, including production, creative development, financing, sales, pitching, and marketing.
Participants will receive personalized guidance from seasoned professionals to refine their abilities in areas such as cinematography, directing, editing, and sound design, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.
Ryan Ashore, Head of The Red Sea Labs, emphasized the program’s commitment to nurturing visionary filmmakers, inviting them to submit their projects for this transformative opportunity.
Participants will have the chance to pitch their work at the upcoming Red Sea Souk during the Red Sea International Film Festival, fostering valuable networking opportunities with industry leaders.
Winners of the competition will be announced at the end of the Festival’s fifth edition in 2025, receiving significant cash prizes to further their filmmaking endeavours.
